Junior was judged for being an indian. When he went to reardon he was judge for being poor and dumb because he was Indian. When he left the res, rowdy and the other Indians judged him for leaving and saying he was not a true indian. This picture shows that a baby was judge for being gay from birth.
Because Junior was an “Indian” and lived on the rez, it seemed he would just accept the fact that he was poor and didn’t have a good life. Until he went to Reardon where he tried to fit in even though he wasn’t like the kids that went there, they judged him as soon as he got there and didn’t accept him until they actually got to know him and realized he was a good guy and no different than any of them.
This picture relates to this book because this baby will be judged his whole life just because he was gay and Junior was judged because he was an ”Indian” but in the book once people get to know Junior they find out he is a good person and not judge him anymore so people should just get to know a person before they judge them because of there race or their sexuality.
This is a good example of how to not to judge a book by its cover which is what this book was all about. In the picture they are labeling this baby before he can even get a chance to defend himself, just like all the kids at Reardon and on the rez did to Junior.
When you put labels on people before they even get a chance to make their own name for themselves, they probably turn into what everyone is labelling them. Junior was labelled poor and stupid just because he was an indian but he definatley was not stupid, just like this baby is labelled as homosexual from birth. It is discriminating against a whole group of people.
The baby in the photo, and junior are both being labeled and judged from a young age and aren’t aloud to reach their full potential in life because they are continuously Beatin down.
just because a person may be labelled does not mean they have to follow what everybody expects them to. The baby in the photo is labelled for being a homosexual, that does not mean the baby wont grow up to be a scuccesfull individual, and Junior was labelled as a poor indian since he was born but he decides to change what people expect him to do and leave the rez and try to make a future out of his life what rarely anyone from the rez do.
Junior grew up in a very poor family, although having very smart and capable parents, who just weren’t given the right chances due to the fact that they were “indian”, and frowned upon by the rest of society ( outside of the rez ). When Junior goes to Reardan, he enters a harsh world where every other kid has a similar and stereotypical judgment on him. Just for being indian, and growing up in a poor tribe, he is considered an inferior to all. However, Junior manages to succeed in aiding his situation, and finally manages to get along with even the most popular of students! The same will go for the baby in the picture, who since birth will be judged for his sexuality, not for the fine, smart person he may one day be. So, if Junior managed to succeed and overcome the “burden”that came with being “indian”, then there’s no way the homosexually labelled baby can’t do the same and manage to make a happy life for himself.
Junior has been judged his whole life. On the Rez he was a ‘retard’ and a loser, and when he went to Reardon he was judged for being native. The picture of the baby labelled homosexual relates to this because if the baby is only known to be a homosexual all of his life then he won’t have a chance to be anything else. Discrimination takes away from who they actually are, we get caught up on all the negative things about someone, we forget to look at all the good they can do.

Hmmm…outward appearances are often not reality, be sure you all put “Indian” in quotes when referencing the text.
